What's the difference between probate and letters of administration?

Probate is the legal authority to manage an estate when there’s a valid Will. Letters of Administration are needed when there’s no Will. The court appoints an administrator. Both give you legal authority to deal with the deceased’s assets.

How long does probate take in Queensland?

From application to grant, probate typically takes 6-12 weeks. The entire estate administration process usually takes 9-18 months depending on complexity. We give you realistic timeframes for your situation.

What does an executor actually have to do?

As executor, you secure estate assets, apply for probate, identify assets and liabilities, pay debts and taxes, notify beneficiaries, and distribute assets according to the Will. We guide you through every step.

Can I administer an estate without a lawyer?

Legally, yes, but it’s complicated and risky. Queensland probate courts have strict requirements, and mistakes can lead to personal liability. Most executors find professional support saves time and reduces stress.
